CBS moving forward with downtown development

The Town of Conception Bay South is continuing to work towards developing a downtown core. The result of a 1970’s amalgamation of a number of different communities along the shoreline, the town developed a strategy in 2013 to develop a focal point for businesses and the public – the Main Street Improvement Plan. In pursuit of the goals outlined in that plan, the town purchased three acres of property in its Main Street Business Improvement Area, complementing a recent announcement that the town had taken ownership of the Long Pond harbour facility. The intent is to make Long Pond a more public area and build a ‘harbour plaza’ on the newly acquired land. It seems that Newfoundland and Labrador’s second biggest municipality has its ducks in a row.
